A working class part of a small town, Tampere, in Finland in the early seventies. Small wooden houses, narrow streets bordered with big grey stones - everything built in layers on a hill, near a lake. It is the hottest summer for years and the minds of Nordic people get confused. The sun shines like the stitch of a needle into your eyes. It goes down to your heart, to your soul - if you still have one left; dangerous, hard, cold and prevalent light. The streets are dry and the dust from the ground colors your shoes grey. Inside the houses it is always dark and people stand still in the shadows. All the rooms the look alike and are in need of some fresh air: wallpaper is stained and everywhere hangs the cigarette smoke from people who have nicotine-yellowed fingers.- this is my view of my childhood.
