For five years, twice yearly, in the
spring and autumn, Professional Workshops on the theme of musical composition for the cinema
have brought together around ten young professionals to the Moulin d’Andé in Normandy.
Participants must have created at least one musical work for the screen.
Each of these get-togethers has been run by three experienced composers, active in the field of film music or sometimes run by two experienced composers and one filmmaker particularly involved in a musical initiative. In the mornings, participants each took a turn in presenting their creative approach, with examples from sound and image. Afternoons were taken up with the study of participants’ work. In the evenings, films were screened in which one of the tutors had collaborated.
